Shopify store examples from Malaysia, and what to copy from each

Malaysian Shopify store examples, from shoes to school uniforms, with the navigation, product page and mobile ideas worth copying from each storefront.

Key takeaways

  • Good Malaysian Shopify stores organise navigation around how their customers decide: by benefit, by gold purity, by school level or by shade.
  • The strongest product pages answer the next question in place, with size, shade, care, delivery and returns next to the add-to-cart button.
  • Large Malaysian retailers such as Bonia, Poh Kong, BIG Pharmacy and Hermo also run their online stores on Shopify (checked 18 October 2026).

Live stores are the fastest way to brief a designer. "Make it like this" is vague. "Copy how Puras sorts oils by benefit" is a requirement. This page collects Malaysian stores that run on Shopify and notes what is worth copying from each.

The first five are client storefronts on Shopify: brands WebCEO has worked with. Our scope differs from client to client, so read them as examples of good Shopify stores, not as a list of what we built. Observations come from the live stores as checked on 18 October 2026, and stores change often.

Which stores are on this list?

Each one runs on Shopify, sells to Malaysian customers, and solves a different catalogue problem. We confirmed the platform by finding cdn.shopify.com in each page's source.

Store What it sells Worth copying
Christy Ng Shoes, bags, wallets Deep menu for a large fashion range, tabbed product details
Shero Cosmetics Short menu and one clear brand promise
Avenys Skincare and jewellery Search-first header, WhatsApp concierge bar
Puras Essential oils and skincare Collections sorted by benefit
Canggih School uniforms Bahasa Malaysia navigation, app-style mobile bar

Christy Ng: how do you navigate a large fashion range?

Keep the homepage visual and let the menu carry the depth.

Christy Ng homepage on desktop: full-width hero photo of shoulder bags on a mannequin, a minimal header with a menu icon, and category tiles for new arrivals, bags and shoes

The desktop header holds just a menu icon, the logo and a bag icon, so the photography fills the screen. The menu behind it is deep. Shoes are split by type (flats, low heels, heels, pumps, sliders), bags by shape (cross-body, shoulder, tote, bucket, mini), and there is a separate bridal collection. Collaborations such as Christy Ng x Mamee Monster and the Miffy range get their own collections, so a campaign can launch without changing the main navigation.

The product pages are worth studying. The Aurelia handbag offers six colours as variants. Name personalisation is sold as an add-on, and the page states that personalised orders need up to seven working days. Details, Info & Care, Shipping & Pickup and Returns sit in tabs under the product, so the answers are there without a trip to a policy page.

Shero: what does a small catalogue need?

A short menu and one message repeated in the right places.

Shero homepage on desktop: hero image of the founder with a foundation bottle, headline "Made for Malaysian Skin", and a six-item top menu

Shero's top menu has six items, with face, eye, lip and tool categories grouped under one Products dropdown. The promise "Made for Malaysian skin" appears in the announcement bar and again in the hero. Social links sit top left and a language selector top right, and a Rewards launcher stays visible in the corner. Gift sets are one product with five set options, which keeps a seasonal range from cluttering the catalogue.

Avenys: how do you sell two unrelated categories in one store?

Lead with search and visual category tiles instead of a giant menu.

Avenys homepage on desktop: wide search bar in the header, category tabs from Promo to Preloved, and round image tiles for watches, rings, earrings and necklaces

Avenys sells skincare alongside jewellery and watches. The header gives most of its width to a search bar, with a row of category tabs below it (Promo, Skincare, Wellness, Cosmetics, Body, Jewelry, Bespoke, Merch, Preloved). Jewellery types appear as round photo tiles, including a "Live now" tile for live selling.

On mobile, the search bar stays full width, the category tabs scroll sideways, and a "Contact private concierge" WhatsApp bar stays fixed to the bottom of the screen. For higher-priced items where customers want to ask before paying, that bar is the most useful element on the page. The skincare product pages show shade options, how-to-use and ingredient sections, and a recently viewed strip.

Puras: how do you sell products customers cannot judge by looking?

Sort them by what they do.

Puras homepage on desktop: diffuser on a wooden side table, a menu with Gifts, Essential Oils, Dragon's Blood and Loyalty, and a welcome code in the announcement bar

You cannot smell an essential oil through a screen, so Puras organises blends and roll-ons by benefit: rest, calm, relief, uplift, refresh and balance. Single notes are grouped by scent family (citrus, earthy, floral, leafy). A "Bestseller" badge sits on the Dragon's Blood menu item itself. A build-your-own starter kit collection gives shoppers a reason to buy several items at once, and corporate gifts have their own collection. The welcome code sits in the announcement bar, and a loyalty programme page, loyalty launcher and WhatsApp button are all visible from the homepage.

Canggih: what does a seasonal, practical catalogue need?

Navigation in the customer's language and categories that match how parents shop.

Canggih homepage on desktop: two pupils in school uniform, a "Jom Beli" button, a Malay menu for primary and secondary uniforms, shoes and bags, and a free delivery notice

Canggih's store is in Bahasa Malaysia. The menu follows the school year: primary uniforms, secondary uniforms, school shoes, bags and co-curricular wear. A further list covers uniformed bodies such as Pengakap, Puteri Islam, Bulan Sabit Merah and Kadet Bomba. The announcement bar states the free delivery threshold, and a countdown banner marks the back-to-school deadline.

On mobile, a bottom bar (home, wishlist, bag, settings, back to top) makes the store feel like an app. Product pages list sizes as variants, with a size chart (Carta Saiz) on the page. That matters for clothes bought by a parent for someone else.

Which other Malaysian brands run on Shopify?

Bonia, Poh Kong, BIG Pharmacy and Hermo, among others. These are not WebCEO clients. We confirmed each one by finding cdn.shopify.com and Shopify.theme in the page source on 18 October 2026.

Brand What it sells Notable on the storefront
Bonia Bags, shoes, accessories New arrivals split by women and men, then by bag type in fine detail
Poh Kong Gold and diamond jewellery Shop by gold purity (999, 916, 835, 750, 375) and by occasion, with gold bars and coins separate
BIG Pharmacy Pharmacy and health products Collections by health concern, such as bone and joint, heart and blood pressure, diabetic support
Hermo Beauty, including Korean brands Shop by brand alongside product categories

Bonia describes itself as established in 1974. Shopify is not only for brands that started online.

What patterns are worth copying across all of them?

Organise around the customer's decision, and answer questions on the product page.

  1. Navigate by the deciding factor. Purity for gold, benefit for oils, school level for uniforms, shade for cosmetics.
  2. Give the announcement bar one job. A welcome code, a delivery threshold or a brand promise. Not all three.
  3. Put delivery, returns and care on the product page. Tabs keep it short.
  4. Make the human route visible. A WhatsApp button or concierge bar helps where customers want to ask first.
  5. Design mobile on its own terms. Sideways-scrolling tabs, fixed contact bars and bottom navigation all appear here.
  6. Give campaigns their own collections. Collaborations and festive ranges come and go without reworking the main menu.

How should you use these examples in a brief?

Name the element, not just the store. For each page type, pick one or two examples and write down the behaviour you want. That gives a designer something to build and you something to check at launch.

Our Shopify development service starts from that kind of brief. See more brands we have worked with on our clients page, and read what a Shopify store costs in Malaysia before setting a budget.

Frequently asked questions

Did WebCEO design and build these stores?

The first five are client storefronts on Shopify. Our scope differs per client, so we do not claim that we designed or built any particular one. Bonia, Poh Kong, BIG Pharmacy and Hermo are not WebCEO clients.

How can I check whether a website runs on Shopify?

Open the page source in your browser and search for cdn.shopify.com or Shopify.theme. If either appears, the store is almost certainly on Shopify.

Can a Shopify store run in Bahasa Malaysia?

Yes. Canggih runs its storefront in Bahasa Malaysia, and Shero offers a language selector.

Do I need a custom theme to get these features?

Not always. Menus, announcement bars, variants and product tabs are common theme features. Elements like benefit-led collections are mostly a matter of how you organise products. Custom work tends to start where the catalogue or the brand needs something a theme does not offer.
