EasyStore vs Shopify in Malaysia (2026): price, fees and POS

EasyStore vs Shopify for Malaysian brands: plan prices in RM, transaction fees, POS, staff accounts, apps and a cost comparison at three sales levels.

Key takeaways

  • EasyStore lists plans from RM 249 a month on monthly billing with no transaction fees. Shopify lists plans from RM 89 a month on yearly billing, plus a 2%, 1% or 0.6% third-party payment fee because Shopify Payments is not available in Malaysia.
  • EasyStore bundles loyalty, broadcasts and, from its Growth plan, POS into the plan. On Shopify the same tools usually come from apps or POS Pro, so compare the full stack, not the plan price.
  • Shopify suits brands that need its app ecosystem, cross-border selling or Plus. EasyStore suits Malaysian sellers who want marketplace sync and loyalty in one local system.

The short answer: EasyStore costs more per month and charges no transaction fees. Shopify costs less per month and adds a third-party payment fee on every online sale. On their Malaysian pricing pages, checked on 5 November 2026, EasyStore lists Standard at RM 249, Business at RM 499, Growth at RM 899 and Scale at RM 1,199 a month on monthly billing. Shopify lists Basic at RM 89, Grow at RM 235 and Advanced at RM 1,450 a month on yearly billing (RM 99, RM 259 and RM 1,590 monthly). Shopify Payments is not available in Malaysia, so every Malaysian Shopify store pays Shopify's 2%, 1% or 0.6% third-party fee on top of the gateway's own fee.

Prices from shopify.com/my/pricing and easystore.co/en-my/pricing on 5 November 2026. EasyStore also shows lower yearly and first-year offer prices. Both platforms change prices, so check the pages before you decide.

Gateway processing fees, from providers such as Billplz, senangPay or HitPay, apply on both platforms. See Shopify payment gateways in Malaysia for current rates.

Which is cheaper at my sales volume?

The third-party fee is what changes the answer. Here is the monthly platform cost for online sales of RM 10,000, RM 50,000 and RM 150,000, before gateway fees, apps and themes.

Online sales per month EasyStore Standard Shopify Basic (yearly) Shopify Grow (yearly) Shopify Advanced (yearly)
RM 10,000 RM 249 RM 89 + RM 200 = RM 289 RM 235 + RM 100 = RM 335 RM 1,450 + RM 60 = RM 1,510
RM 50,000 RM 249 RM 89 + RM 1,000 = RM 1,089 RM 235 + RM 500 = RM 735 RM 1,450 + RM 300 = RM 1,750
RM 150,000 RM 249 RM 89 + RM 3,000 = RM 3,089 RM 235 + RM 1,500 = RM 1,735 RM 1,450 + RM 900 = RM 2,350

On platform fees alone, EasyStore is cheaper once online sales pass roughly RM 8,000 a month against Shopify Basic, and stays cheaper at every level in this table. That is not the whole bill. EasyStore Standard does not include loyalty or POS, and a Shopify store's real cost depends on the apps it runs. Our Shopify cost calculator adds apps and setup, and Shopify plans and pricing in Malaysia explains when each plan pays for itself.

What does each platform include that the other charges for?

EasyStore bundles more into the plan. Its Business plan includes SMS, email and WhatsApp broadcasts, a shared inbox, membership tiers and loyalty points, and affiliate tools. Growth adds POS, a branded shopping app, in-store pickup and ship-from-store. Marketplace order sync is in every plan. EasyStore says SMS and WhatsApp usage, domains and third-party apps can still cost extra.

Shopify relies on apps. Loyalty, reviews, WhatsApp marketing and marketplace sync usually come from the Shopify App Store, each with its own monthly fee, often about US$6 to US$30 a month for the lowest paid plan. See Shopify apps for Malaysian stores for typical choices and prices. In return, you choose from thousands of apps rather than one vendor's feature set.

Which is better for retail outlets and POS?

Both run online and in-store stock from one inventory. EasyStore's POS comes with the Growth plan at RM 899 a month. On Shopify, every plan includes POS Lite, and stores with staff roles, stock transfers or several outlets usually need POS Pro at RM 359 a month per location.

For two outlets on Shopify Grow, that is RM 235 + 2 × RM 359 = RM 953 a month before hardware and the third-party fee on online sales. Mall tenants should also check gross turnover (GTO) reporting and LHDN e-invoicing support. Shopify POS price and hardware in Malaysia breaks down the per-outlet cost.

When does Shopify make more sense?

  • You sell abroad. Shopify's markets, currencies and regional pricing are built for cross-border stores. See Shopify multi-currency for Malaysian stores.
  • You need a specific app or integration. The Shopify App Store has more ERP, accounting and 3PL connectors to choose from.
  • You may outgrow the top plan. Shopify Plus offers checkout customisation, B2B and up to 200 POS Pro locations.
  • You want a large pool of developers. Shopify themes and APIs are widely known, so you are less tied to one agency.

When does EasyStore make more sense?

  • Most of your orders come from Shopee, Lazada or TikTok Shop, and you want those orders and stock in one dashboard without extra apps.
  • Online sales are high and margins thin, so a fee on every order hurts more than a higher plan price.
  • You want loyalty and broadcasts in the box and do not plan to add many integrations.

Can I move from EasyStore to Shopify?

Yes. Products, customers and order history can be exported and imported, and old product URLs need 301 redirects to Shopify's /products/ and /collections/ paths so search rankings carry over. Loyalty points and marketplace connections have to be rebuilt with Shopify apps. Our Shopify migration service plans the redirects, data and cutover.

If you are still choosing, compare the full monthly stack for your own sales volume, outlets and apps, not the entry plan price. Talk to us if you want that worked out for your business.
